About Me

Hi, my name is Lydia.

I live in Tauranga with my husband Jonny and daughter, Brylie (Sept 2008), son Elijah (May 2010) and second daughter Portia (June 2012). Browse around my website to check out some of my many products. bibs, plunket book covers, designer dribble bibs washable breastpads and more.

Since having my children I have branched out into making cute, practical, unique clothing in sizes 0-5yrs. Lovely boys and girls collections.

Here is a little about who I am.

Growing up in Porirua, just north of Wellington, with my builder Dad, creative Mum and two sisters I was always surrounded by sewing, arts and crafts. At a young age I was taught to use my Mum's sewing machine and spent many happy hours creating clothing for my dolls. I have really grown to love sewing and occasionally create pieces for myself when I need a special something for a wedding or other special occasion. I also really enjoy all types of crafts including, painting, scrap-booking and making cards.

I am a trained Kindergarten Teacher (I did my training at Bethlehem Tertiary Institute) From Jan 2005-July 2007 I worked at a Community Kindergarten in Tauranga. And from August 2007 until July 2008 was the Head Teacher at a DayCare also in Tauranga. I left to have our first baby.

Jonathan and I were married in Tauranga on the 10th January 2004 and our three children arrived in 2008, 2010 and 2012, so life is very busy but exciting.  I love having little models to put my clothing on.

I started LittleKiwis at the beginning of 2005 when all my friends were having babies. I was getting sick and tired of wandering though the warehouse or farmers to find "something different and unique" to give them. I am sure you have all felt this feeling and isn't it frustrating?

As I love sewing and I knew a mother could never have enough bibs, I thought that it would be a good idea to create some bibs with a New Zealand look to them.

dribblebibpohutukawaI started off with the over the head style as it really appealed to my busy life. No need to tie any of those fiddly bows at the back. Just pull them down over the neck and they can't get them off - well not until they are about 2.....:-) hopefully not before!!

My bibs are made of nice thick toweling which is perfect for when your child starts on solids, or they MUST feed themselves. There is also a nice comfortable ribbing neck line to make sure those spoonfuls of applesauce and pieces of banana which go astray, do not end up squished to the front of those nice clean clothes you have just dressed them in.

In May 08 I added several other styles of bibs to my range so now there is something for everyone. More styles of bibs were added in 2010.

All the binding I use is handmade by me from 100% cotton.

Due to demand I have been making dribble bibs and cotton front feeding bibs with gorgeous cotton prints and towelling backs.  you can see them here.

I have had a few daycare centres order large amounts of my bibs for their children to use and they have been really happy with their purchase. "The bibs are great and they seem to last the washing so far, So thank you again. (Little Feet Pre-school AK)

The Plunket Book Covers evolved through a converstation with a friend of mine who wanted a nice firm cover for her son's plunket book. As his name is Noah, I used appropriate material with Noah's Ark on it for this cover. Now his plunket book will be preserved for him in the years to come. I know he will love to look through at all his accomplishments and milestones - just as I love looking through mine.

These are now one of my most popular products, and they make great gifts and are a great way for parent centres or other organizations to fundraise.

I have had some midwives order them for their clients as baby gifts, a plunket organization has purchased some to go in raffles and for fundraising, and there has been a very good review on the website www.coffeegroup.org
